The new Ontario Business Registry launches next Tuesday, October 19 and will offer over 90 online services to businesses and not-for-profit corporations, available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Registrations or filings that were previously submitted by mail or fax, taking four to six weeks to complete, can now be done instantly through the online registry.
Businesses across Ontario are encouraged to register their entity with the new Ontario Business Registry. In order to do so, you will need a Company Key to access your entity’s profile. Requests to obtain a Company Key can be submitted on Tuesday, October 19 at Ontario.ca/BusinessRegistry – look for the Company Key request form link.
Annual Returns
On May 15, 2021, the Canada Revenue Agency stopped accepting corporations’ annual returns on behalf of Ontario. From May 15, 2021 through October 18, 2021, corporations whose annual returns were due during that period were exempt from filing. Now that the Ontario Business Registry is launching, corporations who have an annual return due on or after October 19, 2021 must file their annual returns, which they can now do directly, in the registry.
